Vermeer back in action
Kenneth Vermeer is back on the comeback trail having recovered from an Achilles tendon injury.
The Dutch international and Sells endorsee has been sidelined since last summer, but kept a clean sheet upon his return in a 2-0 win for Feyenoord's reserve side against SC Cambuur.
"I feel good and fit and didn't have any problems," Vermeer said after the game. "I have been looking forward to getting back for a long time now. It really feels like the end of a long period of rehabilitation.
"The last few weeks I have already been able to do much during training, but you still hold back a little. But it felt good playing a game and was certainly not uncomfortable. "
Vermeer's next step will be to reclaim the number one jersey for the Eredivisie side, but he admits that he is taking his recovery step by step.
"I'm looking at it day to day, calmly biding my time and trying to train as well as possible," he added. "At the moment what I'm most happy about is having been able to play a match.
"Of course I hope to be able to quickly connect with the squad, but more immediately I'm happy to get more minutes on the pitch."
