Matt Gilks is aiming for the number one jersey at Rangers having joined the club from Burnley.
The 34-year-old will be competing with Wes Foderingham as the Gers return to the Scottish Premiership and the Sells endorsee has no intention of just making up the numbers.
"I know Wes had a fantastic season but obviously I want to play," says the Scottish international. "I'm going to push, but if I can push Wes and if it improves Wes for this team, I'm doing my job as well. We'll have to wait and see what happens on that front.
"It's the biggest club I'll play for and it's such an attraction, you really don't want anything else other than to get here and get started.
"You walk in the front door and the history of the club hits you, it's a fantastic stadium. It's one of those grounds that I think you aspire to play at and a club to play for."
Gilks will certainly bring experience to the Rangers squad following his departure from Turf Moor and he comes with a glowing reference from the club's goalkeeper coach, Jim Stewart.
He said: "Matt brings plenty of ability, a good type about the dressing room, a good character, and he's played at the highest level in terms of playing in the English Premier League and obviously he's been in about the Scotland squads.
"It's knowing that he's got the capability to play at the highest level, and obviously with the games coming up next year, we have big games against the SPL clubs, we're looking forward to the challenge."
