A product of the Ajax youth academy, Kenneth made his first-team debut in a UEFA Cup match against IK Start in September 2006.

He joined fellow Eredivisie side Willem II on loan the following February and made 16 league appearances for the club.

Vermeer’s league debut for Ajax came against SC Heerenveen in September 2008 but he had to wait until the 2011/12 season to become a first-team regular and he went on to win three consecutive league titles.

In August 2014, Kenneth moved to rival club Feyenoord on a four-year deal and made his debut the following month against Willem II.

A regular for two seasons, he joined Club Brugge on loan during the 2017/18 campaign and helped the side win the Jupiler League title.

In January 2020 he joined MLS side Los Angeles FC and his debut came on the opening day of the season against Inter Miami. He was named man of the match, making a number of key saves during the 1-0 win.

Kenneth earned his first call-up to the Netherlands’ squad in 2012, making his debut that November in a friendly against Germany, and holds the Dutch national team record of five consecutive clean sheets.
