A product of the Dinamo Tbilisi youth academy, he went on to make over 170 league appearances for the Georgian side.
He won league and cup honours before a move to Greek Super League side OFI Crete in 2014 but due to the club’s financial problems he was sold to Olympiakos the following summer.
Giorgi’s stay in Piraeus was short-lived and he signed for Russian Premier League side Krylia Sovetov Samara soon after, making 39 top-flight appearances.
Following the club’s relegation he moved to Anzhi Makhachkala for the 2017/18 season before joining Bundesliga 2 side Magdeburg in January 2019.
A regular for the remainder of the season, he then moved to Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta, under fellow Georgian Temuri Ketsbaia, and has featured regularly in the team’s 2019/20 championship challenge.
Giorgi has been a member of the Georgia national team squad since 2010 and has since made over 50 appearances.
