A former scholar with Stoke City, Ben made his Football League debut on loan at Kidderminster Harriers in October 2004 against Shrewsbury Town.

An extended loan followed later that season at Wrexham, where he caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson, having helped the side win the Football League Trophy.

He moved to Manchester United in July 2005 and was immediately sent on a season-long loan to Watford, helping the side win promotion to the Premier League.

With the loan extended for the following campaign, he sampled top-flight football for the first time and was named the club’s Player of the Season.

Upon his return to Old Trafford, he went on to make 23 appearances before signing permanently for Birmingham City in the summer of 2010. While he won the Carling Cup, beating Arsenal at Wembley, Blues were relegated at the end of his first season and he switched to top-flight side West Bromwich Albion on loan.

With the move made permanent, Foster went on to make 209 Premier League appearances for the Baggies before a return to Watford to continue his top-flight career ahead of the 2018/19 season.

A key figure for the Hornets since, he has shown the kind of form that earned him England recognition, where he featured for the Three Lions at the 2014 World Cup finals.
